Nutrition Services Assistant

Job Description:

Position is full-time; as early as 5:00am–1:30pm and every other weekend is required ($1.50 more per hour for weekend shifts). Candidates need to have great customer service experience, good communication and organizational skills, and ability to understand the complexities of the diets and the software program we use. This person will possibly be trained to be a diet clerk. JOB SUMMARY: The Nutrition Services Assistant performs duties related to meal services. Major duties are: providing quality customer service, following standardized recipes for production of food items, operating a cash register, and performing cash/charge related transactions, producing food for room service patients, and using the dish machine to wash dishes. The assistant may need to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and or director.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. 2. Must be able to read and write and follow oral and written directions. 3. Must be able to count money and make change. 4. Able to work under stressful conditions PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Able to work in a latex burdened environment. 2. Able to lift cases of groceries, flour, sugar and containers of food that could weigh up to 50 pounds. 3. Standing for long periods of time with extensive bending and reaching. 4. Demonstrates adequate vision to read, prepare labels and to give appropriate portion control. JOB RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Responsible to the Nutrition Services Supervisor and Director.
