Central Business Office Supervisor

Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: CBO Supervisors are responsible for accounts receivable management and associated functions performed by the Central Business Office team. CBO Supervisors report directly to the Central Business Office Director. Supervisors provide supervision and guidance to assigned employees. Primary focuses is monitoring and analysis of patient account activity, charge variances and denial trends working with team members and analysts to achieve A/R targets and cash goals. With direction from of the CBO Director, defines and implements work flow changes as necessary to achieve billing and collection goals established for optimal performance. Ensures that daily transaction functions are compliant and performed efficiently and accurately; (including credit balance resolution, claims processing, payment processing, insurance follow-up, patient balance resolution, and bad debt collections procedures). Monitors automated systems used in the department to ensure current and accurate dictionaries and data bases are maintained. Collaborates and works in partnership with other CBO Supervisors, Analysts and Team Leaders to facilitate cohesiveness, standardization and teamwork in daily operations. Serves as a liaison to SMC clinics and hospital departments and clinics. Supports the SMC/CBO customer service team and promotes patient satisfaction and internal customer satis-faction.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Minimum of 2 years college 2. Minimum of 3 years experience as a supervisor in a health care business office, with 1 year experience in claims processing 3. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and insurance regulations 4. Verbal and written communications skills 5. One to three years of medical insurance claims processing experience 6. Ability to comprehend established office routines and policies 7. Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook 8. Knowledge of medical terminology 9. Understand the ethics of confidentiality 10. Good organization skills 11. Basic accounting skills 12. Must be able to facilitate multiple projects and tasks, (written, verbal, electronic) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Able to speak clearly and distinctly with staff, patients and families 2. Able to hear to converse with others on the telephone 3. Able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time in order to complete the necessary work schedule 4. Demonstrates adequate vision to prepare and read documents accurately 5. Possesses fine motor shills and hand/eye coordination to operate office equipment 6. Demonstrates adequate stamina to deal with stressful situations and to complete the necessary work schedule JOB RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Reports to the Central Business Office Director 2. Provides timely activity updates on office activity to the director and communicates effectively when operational issues require the director’s guidance, decisions, education or intervention 3. Works effectively with Administration, Clinics, Physicians, Department Leaders, and all other members of the health care team 4. Contributes a positive attitude and department cohesiveness by working cooperatively with other hospital departments, physicians and clinics 5. Demonstrates servant leadership
