NAIL TECHNICIAN

Description:

Position Summary

Responsible for performing the requested service following the Green Reed Spa treatment protocols and guidelines; with consistency and excellent customer services being of the utmost importance.

Supervision Exercised

Reports to the Spa Supervisor.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs manicures, acrylic nails, repairs, polish changes and pedicures.
  2. Provides courteous guest service to all guests.
  3. Must be able to initiate and engage in conversations in a professional and friendly manner.
  4. Must be able to work well with others and as a team.
  5. Applies undercoat and clear or colored polish onto nails with brush.
  6. Attaches paper forms to tips of customers' fingers to support and shape artificial nails.
  7. Brushes powder and solvent onto nails and paper forms to maintain nail appearance and to extend nails, then remove forms and shape and smooth nail edges using rotary abrasive wheel.
  8. Cleans and sanitizes tools and work environment.
  9. Cleans customers' nails in soapy water, using swabs, files, and orange sticks.
  10. Polishes nails, using powdered polish and buffer.
  11. Removes previously applied nail polish, using liquid remover and swabs.
  12. Roughens surfaces of fingernails, using abrasive wheel.
  13. Shapes and smooths ends of nails, using scissors, files, and emery boards.
  14. Softens nail cuticles with water and oil, push back cuticles, using cuticle knife, and trim cuticles, using scissors or nippers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Must have the ability to complete all nail services offered.
  2. Knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures if Nail Technician.
  3. Knowledge of all nail products sold and the ability to promote and sell them.
  4. Must have excellent customer service skills.
  5. Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
  6. Must have basic math skills.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

Required:

  1. High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent
  2. The following license and/or certification is required prior to employment start date: State of New Mexico Board of Cosmetology License
  3. One (1) year experience in a retail outlet, hotel or resort salon
  4. Must be at least 18 years of age

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to successfully pass a Background Investigation.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.

Working Conditions

  1. Work is performed indoors.
  2. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required.
  3. Subject to hazards which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke; diseases; cuts bruises, burns, common cold, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
  4. Duties may involve crouching, sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.
  5. Specific required movements include the following:
    1. Trunk- bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry.
    2. Arms – reach, carry, lift, twist, and rotate.
    3. Legs – lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate.
    4. Hands – Grasp, manipulate bilateral coordination, hand and eye coordination, and overall and finger dexterity.
