SURVEILLANCE AGENT

Description:

Position Summary

Using audio and video equipment, observes and reports illegal and non-procedurally compliant violations of casino policies and procedures, NIGC, STGC Regulations and the New Mexico Gaming Compact.

Supervision Exercised

Supervised by a Surveillance Supervisor(s)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintains video/audio surveillance of gaming activities using multiple monitors.  These functional areas include, but are not limited to, casino table games, bingo (includes bingo card room), cashier cage, video slot machines, Poker, Keno, count, sort, and money rooms, storage locations, vault, entrances, outdoor grounds, parking lots, stairs and open common areas.
  2. Maintains surveillance over monetary transactions and stations.
  3. Documents monetary transactions for procedural inconsistencies.
  4. Prepares and maintains an individual official log of departmental activities.
  5. Documents and provides evidence for use by casino for legal purposes.
  6. Maintains radio contact with security personnel, casino managers, and other surveillance personnel as assigned.
  7. Works within, adheres to, and contributes to an established operational chain of command.
  8. Maintains confidentiality of duties, reports, investigations, and any other job related information at all times.
  9. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to speak clearly, understand radio transmissions, and operate assigned equipment.
  2. Ability to pass vision test, eyesight correctable to 20/20 and have no colorblindness.
  3. Ability to identify violations involving casino policies and procedures.
  4. Ability to attend and pass training classes and courses.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  6. Ability to understand and follow standard-operating-procedures and departmental operating guidelines.
  7. Ability to make quick decisions under stressful conditions.
  8. Ability to draft written reports and other documentation.
  9. Ability to perform repetitive duties over long periods of time.
  10. Ability to work odd and unusual hours.
  11. Ability to operate effectively, a hand controller lever.
  12. Ability to visually observe and discern screen images and make recommendations.
  13. Ability to successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation.
  14. Knowledge of, and ability to use, video recording and audio equipment.
  15. Must have knowledge of, or be willing to learn, gaming rules, slot machines, bingo, pull-tabs, and pick-your-numbers.
  16. Ability to perform basic mathematical problems quickly and accurately.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

Required:

  1. High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent. 
  2. One (1) year of operations experience, in one or more of the following: 
    • Surveillance
    • Security Dispatch
    • Table Games
    • Slots
    • Cage Vault

Licensing Status

  1. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  2. Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.

Working Conditions

  1. Work is performed indoors subject to stale air and cigarette smoke.
  2. Requires sitting for long periods of time viewing monitor screens.
  3. Work is performed in a confined environment.
  4. Eyes are subject to excessive strain.
  5. Duties may involve climbing, walking, kneeling, sitting, and crouching.
  6. Specific required movements include the following:  (40 lbs. Maximum)
    • Trunk-bend, twist, carry
    • Arms-reach, carry, lift, twist, rotate
    • Legs-push, twist, rotate
    • Hands-grasp, manipulate, bilateral coordination, finger and overall dexterity
    • Extensive eye and hand coordination.
